I’m cramming to meet deadlines and don’t have much artwork that I’m free to show right now, but here’s a super fast WIP of a design I’m working on, at 100%. ;)
Had an amazing time at Emerald City Comic Con last weekend with BOOM! Studios. I’m so glad this was my first experience in Seattle, (LA makes me miss REAL RAIN!!) I instantly fell in love with the city and had so much fun sketching on Adventure Time covers all weekend long with Travis and Ian, and met so many amazing artists and creators I look up to. I’m terrible at taking pictures while I’m at cons, but here’s a few snapshots of the city and my favorite covers. Hope to be back in Seattle again soon!
"Can you redraw her body and make her more slender/thin/skinny?" is my number one pet peeve with client feedback. I’ve got nothing against drawing thin bodies too, but I’ve been hearing this a ton even when I use photos of super thin models as starting points and reference. SilverRuby suggested I draw a bodacious babe to get the anger out of my system, so I did and I made her a flower hipster, and now I feel a little better. :(
Amazing Arizona Comic Con is over and I had an amazing time!! Here’s some shots of some of the sketch covers I did at the BOOM! Studios booth. Thank you to everyone who came by to get a cover from me or the incredible Wook Jin Clark! If you haven’t seen it in comic shops already, you should check out the mini series Wook is working on now for BOOM! - Adventure Time Flip Side.
Me and all my reference for this Ygritte commission. Actually more like 10% of my reference, gomen. T__T;; I have a bunch more photos of her costume, of more Mucha illustrations, and pictures from senshistock, bless them.
It’s coming together, but at this stage I feel like Dr. Frankenstien, bleehhh.
Last in my mini Hogwarts sketch series is Erwin. Rec and I were in 100% agreement on Gryffindor for his House, and then I had to go and put him in Quidditch Keeper gear… he just pulls off uniforms well ok.
Hey all! For the next few weeks I’m going to be posting some filler sketches and fan art. Bummer, I know, but I’ve been unexpectedly busy this fall, leaving me very little time for pages. I just finished a convention and a craft fair over the last couple of weeks, and I have two more coming up! SO MANY! I’ve also got enough freelance to last me the rest of the year, which is very nice but still a lot. Freelance is strange that way; when it rains, it pours.
Anyway, here’s a sketch of Adam I did while at Alternative Press Expo. Whenever I make a new character, I always end up questioning what their Hogwarts House would be. I have not yet agreed on this with Rec, but I’m pretty sure Adam would be sorted into Hufflepuff. Precious darling Hufflepuff.
